The current situation regarding the subject of the project
The transition of agriculture to a sustainable and competitive framework is considered imperative. The new framework should enhance the production of healthy and safe food while ensuring the present and future of farms, product quality and environmental protection. This need is more intense in olive cultivation, where the interaction between cultivation care, biotic enemies and the environment is even greater and the result – performance directly dependent.
Timely information on the appearance of possible attacks within the olive grove environment allows measures and decisions to be taken for the rational use of plant protection products and the planning of interventions.
The innovation
The application AFICIONADO-OLIVE of the AgroApps IKE company produce warnings of possible attacks (insects: olive fruit fly, Prays oleae, Euphyllura phillyreae, Parlatoria oleae/ diseases: Cycloconium oleagineum, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides), regarding the timely and safe planning of all cultivation practices in the field, aiming to minimize losses and preserve post-harvest quality. The application will be evaluated in pilot fields in the Region of Central Macedonia, which is characterized by insufficient assimilation of modern technological solutions (RIS3, 2015).
After the implementation of the project, the application will be a decision-making system, adapted to the particular conditions of the olive groves, without the need to invest in field equipment (sensors, insect traps).
Agricultural European Innovation Partnership (EIP-AGRI)
The objective of Measure 16 is to strengthen the culture of cooperation between the involved bodies with the aim of:
- strengthening the competitiveness of businesses in primary production (agricultural holdings) in the food sector, mainly local products but also as well as
- the search for new cultivation practices and production practices that contribute to the protection of the environment but also to adaptation to climate change.
Through the partnerships that will be developed, the opportunity will be given to utilize new technologies and innovative processes for:
- the production of safer and healthier food.
- the reduction of water consumption and in general the cost of inputs for economic and environmental benefit
- ensuring the uniqueness of certified agricultural products.
